the Rolex Day-Date Onyx dial
The Rolex Day-Date was released back in 1956 measuring 36mm. It was made of yellow gold with a fluted bezel, yellow gold president-bracelet and the yellow gold case. These watches were released with a display with the day written out in full. You could opt for different types of dial colors back in the day, like champagne, linen or black. This black dial Rolex Day-Date was one of the coolest looking watches ever. And they’re called the Onyx (black in French). This Onyx Rolex Day-Date features some different dials on the yellow gold Day-Date.
You could opt for the regular black dial with hour markers, but there are two special dials within this collection: the first one is the full black Onyx dial, with no hour markers. They’ve only fitted the watch with the Cyclops lens at three o’clock for the date and the display for the day written out in full in different languages. This Onyx Day-Date looks amazing and kind of tough, for a luxury watch. The other option is the diamond hour markers on 6 and 9 o’clock, and fully black. These pieces are highly sought after and prices keep on rising all the way up to €50.000 and over.
