The Rolex Day-Date II
With the original Rolex Day-Date measuring 36mm, Rolex introduced the biggest change in the Day-Date collection in 2008 when they announced the Rolex Day-Date II. This model was 5mm wider compared to the regular 36mm, measuring 41mm. Since the case grew that much, they had to outfit the new Day-Date II with a new 3156 caliber. You could still find the Day-Date II in yellow gold like the original, but now available for the bigger wrists.
Materials & Prices
The Rolex Day-Date II is also available in platinum, rose gold and white gold, just like the Rolex Day-Date 40. The 41mm looks a bit bigger and heavier, but it is still one of the most iconic and classic looking watches around. The Rolex Day-Date II is available from €38.000 and up, starting at the white dial or champagne dial with a yellow gold watch.
If you’re in the market for the rose gold version or the platinum watch, you need to spend at least €49.000 on a well-maintained piece on Wristler. Since the Rolex Day-Date II is replaced by the Day-Date 40, you can’t get your hands on a new watch at your local dealer, making it a pre-owned watch if you’re up for it.
