One of the newest Swiss watchmakers

Hublot

Modern timepieces with elegant but extraordinary designs: that is what the Swiss watchmaker stands for. With numerous designs, models and case sizes there is always a Hublot watch that will suit your needs. With never-seen-before materials, exceptional designs and complicated movements, Hublot makes watches to stand out from the crowd.

Since 1980

The history of Hublot

The Italian Carlo Crocco founded the Hublot company back in 1980. In that exact same year, he introduced the first ever wristwatch with a natural rubber strap at the watch trade show called Baselworld. At that time, Hublot was just the name for one of his watch models. Crocco had some experience in the watch making industry: he designed his first watch in 1967.

Hublot needed a new CEO in 2004, so they hired Jean-Claude Biver, who had previously bought Blancpain and Omega back from the brink. In 2005, Hublot received a lot of awards from the watch making industry for their then-new series, the Big Bang. A couple of years later, in 2008, the big LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton bought Hublot from the Italian Carlo Crocco. One other brand that falls under this LVMH company is TAG Heuer.

Innovation

Re-inventing watchmaking

Hublot is one of those companies who try to do something new in an existing market. With extraordinary designs, materials being used and high-end craftmanship the Hublot watch collection differs from its competitors. Hublot uses different kind of materials, like carbon, textile or even concrete on their watches. Hublot is the only company using Magic Gold on their collection: this is a combination of yellow gold and ceramic alloy. This could be one of the reasons why the watches from Hublot are a bit heavier compared to other brands.

It's not only the materials in the Hublot collection: with the Hublot Big Bang it earns the name because it measures up to 45mm. You can have some other watches in the collection as well.

The MP Collection for example, these watches look like it belongs in SciFi movies. Inside the Hublot cases you will find in-house calibers including a bi-axis tourbillon or up to nine barrels. The latter boasts a power-reserve of more than two weeks which is unusual. You can also find Chronographs, GMT’s and perpetual calendars in the Hublot collection. Hublot is definitely one of the few Swiss watchmakers with exceptional designs, complicated movements like on the MP-05 LaFerrari, but also uses interesting materials on their watches. Just for these kinds of things you must like the Swiss brand.

Hublot's Most Famous Watchmodel

The Big Bang

One of the most common Hublot watches is the Big Bang. There are different sizes available, just like different materials used on these watches. All of the Hublot Big Bang watches feature sapphire crystal on both sides of the case, so you can take a look at the movement inside the case.

If you’re in the market for a Hublot Big Bang, you can opt for the Big Bang Unico, measuring 42 up to 45mm in diameter. The name Unico comes from the Hublot movement: HUB1240 Unico. This movement features 330 individual hand-assembled pieces and is the result of years of experience. Since the movement is so complicated, it allows Hublot to add some other features like a GMT, chronograph or a perpetual calendar to the Hublot Big Bang. If you’re into golf, you might be interested in the Hublot Big Bang Unico Golf, which allows you to count holes and strokes on your wristwatch.

Ferrari is one of the biggest names in motorsport. There is a collaboration between Hublot and Ferrari, resulting in the Hublot Big Bang Unico Ferrari. The time display and subdials are modeled after a sports car’s dashboard and the Ferrari logo is on the dial at 6 o’clock. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a Big Bang Ferrari, you need to spend at least €18.000. There is another Hublot x Ferrari watch: the MP-05 which is called the ‘LaFerrari’. This watch measures 46mm and features a power reserve indicator. This MP-05 can run for 50 days before it needs to be rewound, which is crazy for a wristwatch. This watch will cost you a bit more compared to the Big Bang Ferrari: at least €225.000 up to €540.000.

Classic Looking Hublot Watch

The Classic Fusion

If you’re in the market for a more conventional looking watch from the Hublot collection, you might opt for the Classic Fusion. These three-hand models with a date display come in multiple sizes from 33 up to 45mm. These watches are perfect for both women and men to wear. Prices from these Hublot Classic Fusion watches differ from €4.000 for a quartz-movement piece up to €40.000 for the diamond-studded Moonphase Hublot Classic Fusion.

Prices of the Hublot watches

With a different variety of models, Hublot knows how to stand out from the crowd. But, you can opt for a more regular looking watch in the Hublot collection: the Classic Fusion. These watches cost around €4.000 for a well-maintained version on Wristler. It features the HUB2912 Quartz-movement and features a titanium case. If you’re willing to spend some more cash, bring €10.000 for a Big Bang Chronograph with a 42-hour power-reserve made of stainless-steel. Hublot uses King Gold on the Classic Fusion Moonphase which will cost you close to €42.000. If money isn’t an issue, you might be interested in the Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Power Reserve 5 Days: made of titanium, 115-hour power-reserve and a price tag of around €75.000. The king of all kings is the MP-05 Hublot LaFerrari Sapphire reference 905.JX.0001.RT with a price tag of €544.000 and a power reserve of 50 days.
