The Hublot Big Bang Unico
Since the start of the company, Hublot has made some interesting designs and uses different materials compared to their competitors. The same goes for the Hublot Big Bang Unico: it’s Hublot’s flagship collection with different features like a GMT, perpetual calendar with both impressive in-house calibers with a large power reserve.
The history of the Big Bang
Since the first Hublot Big Bang in 2005, it’s the flagship model in their collection. With numerous special designs and materials used on these watches, it’s part of their identity. Hublot was the first ever manufacturer to put rubber straps on a gold watch, being put on the map in the luxury watch market back in 1980. They’ve called it their ‘fusion concept’ which involves combining materials that you wouldn’t see on watches otherwise.
Big, bigger, Big Bang Unico
One of the most iconic models in the Hublot Big Bang Unico collection is the Unico 45, with its 45mm case. These series feature almost everything from simple titanium watches with rubber straps and colorful ceramic like the Big Bang Unico Rainbow made of King Gold. This piece features more than 220 colorful stones, including 176 gems on the case and another 48 on the bezel. If you’re on the market for this unique and colorful piece, make sure to bring at least €80.000 to the table to get your hands on a multicolored alligator and black strap on this piece. There are some other options in the Hublot collection when you want to spend a little less money on a colorful piece, like the Unico Blue Magic in blue ceramic. This watch costs around €17.000 at the Hublot boutique. You can also opt for the red ceramic, but it’s a bit more expensive at €24.500. The most popular ceramic Hublot Big Bang is the Unico Black Magic, made of black ceramic and will cost you €15.500.
Slightly smaller Big Bang
Back in 2018, Hublot introduced the Big Bang Unico 42 measuring 42mm on its case. It’s not only smaller, but also thinner making it more wearable on different wrists. It features the new in-house caliber Unico 2 with a 72-hour power reserve. Just like the bigger 45mm, this Big Bang Unico 42 is available in numerous colors, materials and designs. One of the most special watches in this collection is the Unico Yellow Sapphire, with a limited production of 100 pieces. It features a yellow sapphire case with a yellow rubber strap and costs you around €85.000 if you’re lucky enough to find one.
Pricing on the Hublot Big Bang Unico
When you’re in the market for a pre-owned or new Hublot Big Bang Unico, there is plenty of choice. Depending on the budget, you can already get your hands on one for roughly €15.000 for the black ceramic 42mm Big Bang. If you spend a bit more cash on a Big Bang, you can wear the GMT Carbon Blue Ceramic featuring a ceramic bezel and a carbon case. This piece costs you close to €20.000. Just like the size on the Hublot Big Bang Unico, you can spend way over €20.000 on these pieces: for €94.000 you can wear the Perpetual Calendar Sapphire measuring 45mm.
