The Gilt dial on our 1965 Submariner exudes a sense of vintage charm and sophistication, serving as a timeless reminder of Rolex’s rich heritage and extreme high-quality in dial design and dial manufacturing. In natural light, Gilt dials already exhibit a stunning interplay of shadows and highlights, with the gold accents shimmering elegantly against the gloss black background. But when the sun hits the dial at the right angles, the Gilt details truly come alive, casting a mesmerizing glow that captivates the beholder. The entire watch shows fair aging and natural ‘wear and tear’ of the steel, both on the centre case as well on the 9351 folded Oyster bracelet. What we mean by this is that the watch aged gracefully and honestly; no laser welding or re-cutting was done on this watch, and this is really how we like to find these 1960’s 5513 Submariners: cherished, enjoyed and worn for years by a fellow vintage Rolex collector. Watches like this will of course show traces of wear and have some battle scars, but remember that these 5513’s were manufactured and used as true Toolwatches.

Toolwatches from the 1960’s; the era of Sean Connery as James Bond, the era where Navy Lt. And then there’s that Gilt dial.. wow, especially out in the sunlight the shimmering of the gloss dial looks like flames dancing, it’s nothing short of stunning!


This extremely attractive Gilt dial 5513 was fully serviced by our watchmakers, but we did not do any polishing or brushing to the case and/or bracelet. As always, she will be sold with our extensive two year warranty.
