The Rolex Yacht-Master
Rolex and water are a pretty good mix, looking at the Rolex Submariner or the Sea-Dweller. These watches are perfect for diving, but if you like to stay on your yacht or boat, the perfect watch to wear is the Rolex Yacht-Master. This watch is made of high-quality materials and are likely to appreciate in value in the coming years making it a solid investment.
All about the Rolex Yacht-Master
The Rolex Yacht-Master is very popular due to its wide variety of case sizes, measuring 29 to 42mm. The Rolex Yacht-Master is made of high-quality materials like platinum, steel or 18-karat gold and the bezel is made of scratch-resistant ceramic. Even if you like to stay on your boat or yacht, you can still take the Yacht-Master into the water because it’s water-resistant up to 100 meters.
When looking at the design for the Rolex Yacht-Master, it looks like the family of the Rolex Submariner with an Oyster-case and the three-link Oyster-bracelet. The Cyclops lens is also available on the Rolex Yacht-Master, but what really differs is the bidirectional bezel on the Yacht-Master compared to the unidirectional bezels on the Submariner.
Materials on the Rolex Yacht-Master
While you can get your hands on a stainless-steel or titanium with ceramic bezel Rolex Yacht-Master, there are some other options regarding materials. Exclusively for the Rolex Yacht-Master, there is the Rolesium which pairs a stainless-steel case and bracelet with a bezel in 950 platinum. You can also opt for the two-tone Rolesor yellow gold and stainless-steel version or even the Everose rose gold Yacht-Master.
Some models of the Rolex Yacht-Master feature the well-known Oysterflex bracelet which looks like a rubber band, but there are some flexible materials inside. This Oysterflex bracelet can be found on both the Yacht-Master or the Rolex Daytona with a matching clasp in yellow gold or rose gold.
Different sizes of the Yacht-Master
Rolex introduced the Yacht-Master in different sizes, from 29 to 42mm. The 29mm case was designed for women, making it a Lady Yacht-Master. This watch comes in stainless-steel or stainless-steel with yellow gold. There also is a Yacht-Master 37mm, which is powered by the 2236 caliber with a 55-hour power reserve. Rolex offers this watch in rose gold, stainless-steel with yellow gold or stainless-steel with platinum. There is a popular version of this 37mm Yacht-Master which is the chocolate reference 268621 with a chocolate brown dial and the Everose rose gold case. If you’re in the market for a Yacht-Master 37 with diamonds, you can get your hands on a reference 268655. The Yacht-Master 40 is also available in reference 126655 and is made of 18-karat rose gold with the Oysterflex bracelet. You can also opt for the Rolesium which combines platinum with stainless-steel on this piece.
If you prefer a watch that is a bit bigger on your wrist, you should look at the Rolex Yacht-Master 42mm reference 226659. This model was released back in 2019 and features a white gold case with a black bezel from Cerachrom ceramic.
In 2024, Rolex introduced their first ever titanium Yacht-Master 42, measuring 42mm, featuring a ceramic bezel and full titanium bracelet and case. This one is really hard to find, and if you’re lucky enough, you can get your hands on one for around €30.000 on the secondary market.
The Yacht-Master II
The Rolex Yacht-Master II is very different compared to the Rolex Yacht-Master. The Yacht-Master II has the ability to stop time with its counter and is the first ever watch to feature a programmable countdown with a memory, which is called the Regatta Chronometer for professionals.
The Yacht-Master II is a very complicated watch, just like the Sky-Dweller. Its design differs from the other Yacht-Master looks. Do you like this stunner? Rolex discontinued this watch in 2024, making it a desirable option for investors. The Yacht-Master II is available in full steel, rose gold and steel or full rose gold, setting you back around €20.000 up to €40.000 a piece.
