The watch we have here may be a somewhat lesser-known reference, but we are sure that this vintage Rolex watch fits perfectly within the offering of 10 over 10! The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is known as the foundation of Rolex, with an automatic movement and the famous waterproof Oyster case. The reference 6748 was introduced by Rolex in the 1970s and features a case size of 31 mm, placing it among the midsize Rolex watches. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6748 was made in various versions: fully steel, steel/gold, and, as we have here, 18K yellow gold.

This Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6748 dates from the year 1978 and is made of 18K yellow gold. The 31 mm case is razor-sharp and in beautiful condition. What makes the watch particularly charming is the white dial with black Roman numerals, also known as “Buckley.” Under the plexiglass is the white dial, surrounded by gold hour markers and matching gold hands, a great combination if you ask us! The dial has a small discoloration/imperfect spot on the left side, at the 9 o'clock position, but this is certainly not considered disturbing.

What we unfortunately don't see often anymore is that these models are still equipped with the famous riveted Oyster bracelet. This naturally excites us: this watch comes with the original, period-correct 18K yellow gold riveted Oyster bracelet. The production of steel riveted Oyster bracelets was halted in the 1960s, with the last examples delivered in the late 1970s in the US. The gold variants, on the other hand, like this one, were produced for a much longer time. Characteristic of these bracelets is that they show more stretch compared to the current, solid bracelets. Still, we are very pleased with the condition of this piece: the bracelet shows almost no stretch and we suspect that the full number of original links is still present. These are not easily removable, as with the current screwed links!
