Rolex Predictions 2023: new watches during Watches & Wonders

Every year, a lot of people speculate about the newest models from the Rolex catalog. What models is the Swiss manufacturer going to release this year? This is our yearly forecast from the Wristler team to you.

Update: The new Rolex models are online. Check it out!

Watches & Wonders

Every year, at the end of March, beginning of April, the Watches & Wonders in Geneva is taking place. At this time of year, a lot of speculations and predictions circle around the internet, trying to predict what models are being released during these days. So, it’s time to be creative, do some research and find out if we can predict the newest 2023 models in the Rolex collection

Anniversary watches from Rolex

When it comes to special years, 2023 is probably one of these years. In 1953, the Rolex Submariner was introduced as the Submariner (without the date function). This Submariner is now in production for 70 years, making it a special year to celebrate. When the Rolex Submariner hit 50 years of experience, Rolex released the Kermit (reference 16610LV). What’s this year going to bring when it comes to the 70th anniversary of the Sub? We might guess that it is a titanium (like the Sea-Dweller Deepsea Challenge) piece, or even a red bezel on the regular stainless-steel Rolex Submariner. We might even expect some different dial colors on the 70th anniversary Rolex Submariner, such as Tiffany-blue or red.

Another watch celebrating their birthday, is the Rolex Daytona. This watch was released back in 1963, making 2023 a special year for the Daytona as well. What are your thoughts on the Daytona? We think it’s the best watch within the Rolex collection, especially rendering the 60th anniversary pieces, like a titanium Daytona with a green bezel and dial, or even a platinum piece with a green dial. We might also predict a completely new, Paul Newman-style Daytona, with contrasting sub-dials, maybe even with a cream dial and a platinum case?

In 1953, Rolex released the first ever Explorer in their collection, making it an anniversary watch as well for 2023. This 36mm watch is the perfect watch to wear on a daily basis, but now it’s time to celebrate the 70-year anniversary. What’s to expect? We can only imagine that Rolex will release a solid gold (might be Everose or yellow gold) Explorer, or a titanium RLX (just like the Sea-Dweller Challenge). Since Rolex already released the Rolesor two-tone Explorer a couple of years ago, we might suggest that the solid gold piece would look amazingly look with that dark black dial and luminous indices and hands.

Other rumors and predictions for Rolex in 2023

We know, we just have to wait a couple more weeks to know for sure, but it might be a cool idea to re-release a solid gold Datejust again, just like the OG. Or even a Datejust with the tridor-bracelet, which can be found on vintage Day-Date’s as well. Speaking of, Rolex might even re-release the tridor bracelet on the Day-Date in 2023. What do you think? We would also love to see some more creamy (vintage looking) dials on Rolex watches, like on the Milgauss, Explorer II or a GMT-Master II (suggestion: a nice updated Rootbeer with a creamy dial, brown bezel and rose gold bracelet).

Note: these watches are all based on our own speculations, nothing is for sure yet. We’d love to see what’s happening in 2023 when it comes to the Rolex collection.
