Another price increase at Rolex in 2023? Rumor has it!

Rolex increased their prices in January 2022. But then again in November 2022, just two months ago. Right now, speculations circle around the internet that there is going to be another price increase in January 2023 when it comes to the retail watches from Rolex. That means the price differences between the so called ‘grey market’ and the authorized dealers (AD) is slipping away.

About these rumors about Rolex

Of course, we like a bit of chit-chat when it comes to watches, especially when it comes to Rolex watches. These watches are popular amongst collectors, enthusiasts but also the younger crowd enjoys these sporty but elegant watches. We even had a client who was 15 years old, buying his first ever Rolex. Can you imagine? Enough about the right age when it comes to buying your first Rolex.

Ever since Rolex introduced their Certified Pre-Owned Program, people started thinking that the AD’s even get more power through these channels, since they can decide whether you can buy a new, or pre-owned watch. Another thing that probably won’t be possible: buying a true and classic vintage watch at the Certified Pre-Owned Program. So vintage lovers, don’t worry, just yet.

New pricelist

Basically, Rolex and their authorized dealers can decide whether they will allow you to buy a Rolex. A new one or pre-owned piece (with some extra margin, which is crazy). We’ve seen the prices of these so called pre-owned Certified Rolex watches. Expect to pay at least €24.000 for a pre-owned GMT. Which you can easily buy on the grey market for around €13.000 up to €18.000, depending on the year and the state of the watch.

The thing that really bothers us is the third price increase from Rolex within 12 months. Which is absolutely crazy. We've seen the new price list of Rolex watches from 01-01-2023 that is going around. And the price increase isn’t that bad at all, but again, it’s the third one.

For example: the new list price of the Rolex Milgauss 116400GV is €9.150, but the retail price right now is €9.100. It’s ‘just’ €50,-, but where does it end? This Milgauss is doable, but when it comes to the two-tone Rolex Daytona, you might need to take a seat. The current list price at retailers for the two-tone Rolex Daytona is €17.900. When you want to buy it from 2023 on, you need to bring €18.800 to the table. For exactly the same watch.

Relax & be prepared

Inflation causes a lot of things to increase in price. But with this third price increase in a pretty short timeframe, you cannot make us believe the increase is due to inflation…

We don’t want you to rush things. But we do want you to take care and be ready for another likely price increase for Rolex watches in January 2023. You might as well shop you next Rolex online, being sure that prices won’t change.
