Porsche Design
Functional design with innovation combined with a brand that everyone knows: Porsche. One of the finest brands in automotive history also produces watches of high-quality with complications like a chronograph. Porsche Design watches are the perfect watches to wear to the track or to any motorsport event.
The history of Porsche Design
The very first watch developed by Porsche Design was dated back from 1972 when they introduced the Chronograph 1, with inspiration of the instrument panel from the sportscars back in the day. The watches and cars share a bit more than just a name: with the integrated rocker switch found on the Monobloc Actuator Chronograph and materials used on the watches like titanium, there are a lot of similarities.
With the strong focus on chronographs, since it’s actually connected to motorsport, the watches from Porsche Design sometimes even feature different complications like a GMT or a Flyback mechanism. The materials used on the watches are often stainless-steel, carbon, titanium or gold alloys with brushed surfaces. ETA is one of the bigger suppliers for Porsche Design when it comes to movements for their watches.
Prices of the Porsche Design watches
When you’re in the market for a Porsche, you might need to look at a watch from Porsche Design first. You can already call it your own for around €1.000 for the Porsche Design 1/10 Second Chronograph with a quartz-movement measuring 39mm in case size. There are some other options with an automatic ETA-movement, such as the 1919 Sport Chrono for around €4.400. The most expensive watch in the Porsche Design collection is €7.800 for the Porsche Design by IWC Ocean 2000. Compared to other luxury brands, prices tend to be affordable.
