Glashütte Original
While most watchmakers are based in the French speaking part of Switzerland, there is an exception. Glashütte Original is the German manufacturer of high-end luxury watches with in-house calibers, complications and numerous precious materials used on their watches. You can either opt for the vintage look, or the classic retro look in the Glashütte collection.
The history of Glashütte Original
The home of German watchmaking is the town Glashütte and there is a rule saying that at least 50% of the watch is made in this town so you may call it a Glashütte Original. And that’s what’s going on with the German Glashütte Original. With experience over 100 years, Glashütte Uhrenbetrieb GmbH started all this.
Nowadays it is a part of the well-known Swatch-group, but it was privately owned until 2000. Ever since the beginning of the company, Glashütte Original always makes sure to use the best materials around on their wristwatches. For the cases they use platinum, red gold or white gold.
Women’s watches from Glashütte Original
Glashütte Original dedicated a whole line of production for the watches for women. You can get your hands on the Pavonina, Lady Serenade and PanoMatic Luna. Cases made of stainless-steel, two-tone or red gold are paired with a stainless-steel bracelet or a leather strap.
You can even opt for diamonds on these pieces making it look extra feminine. Prices of these women’s watches from Glashütte Original start at €3.400 for the stainless-steel Pavonina, but if you want one with diamonds you need €10.000 more.
The Senator
One of the best watches from Glashütte Original is the Senator. This 48mm platinum watch features the 89-01 caliber with a perpetual calendar and a second time zone. This piece is limited to 25 pieces and will cost you: €370.000 when you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one.
If this is a bit too much, you might opt for the Senator Tourbillon without the perpetual calendar or second time zone. These pieces are a bit more affordable, around €60.000 to €90.000.
