The history of Zenith
With over 150 years of experience in the luxury watch market, Zenith definitely knows what they are doing. Georges Favre-Jacot founded the company back in 1865 in Switzerland. He named the company Zenith after creating a movement of extraordinary quality. The five-pointed star which resembles the logo, is a fitting symbol to his company. In the beginning of the company, they focused on pocket watches only. Zenith even won the chronometer competition starting in 1903.
Since 2000, Zenith is a part of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy company). At the beginning of the 20th century, Zenith introduced one of the first ever wristwatches with an alarm. The well-known chronographs have been an important part of the company since the beginning and still today, the El Primero caliber is one of the most famous products from the Swiss manufacturer. This caliber is even being used in the Rolex Daytona.
The Zenith Defy
The roots of this watch go back to the early 20th century, when Zenith produced robust watches that where labeled Défi, which is French for challenge. In 2017, Zenith introduced the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 with the El Primero caliber with two separate escapements. This enables the watch to measure 1/100th of a second. You can opt for the 44mm case size in rose gold, carbon, titanium or ceramic. It features a skeleton dial to view the amazing caliber. Depending on the material, you can spend €9.000 up to €40.000 for a watch.
The Elite collection of Zenith
Back in 1994 when mechanical watches were regaining a bit of their popularity, Zenith launched the Elite collection. The Swiss manufacturer produced slim and automatic movements with high power-reserves for 55 hours. The movement was only 3.3mm thick. You can opt for the 36 or 40.5mm case size making them perfect for both men and women to wear on a daily basis. The stainless-steel version will cost you around €5.000, while the moon-phase with diamond bezel will cost you close to €13.000 on Wristler.
