The 2025 Formula 1 season is here, and McLaren is riding high after a fantastic 2024 campaign, proving they are back at the top. But aside from their on-track success, McLaren drivers also enjoy a special perk—wearing Richard Mille watches.

10-year sponsorship deal

You often see, also in Formula 1, that a sponsorship deal lasts for one or two seasons. However, that's a different story when we look at Richard Mille and McLaren's sponsorship deal: in 2017 they signed an agreement for no less than 10 years, until the 2027 season. And that is of course quite a great collaboration. Richard Mille not only sponsors the McLaren racing team, but is also very active with sponsorship at Ferrari.

What watch are Piastri and Norris wearing?

The two young drivers from McLaren are of course regularly spotted with a Richard Mille on their wrist: these watches are certainly worn after the races in order to contribute to Richard Mille's name recognition on TV. Which watch is that? That is the Richard Mille RM50-03 McLaren F1 edition, with an orange strap, a transparent dial with a chronograph function and of course finished in carbon, because that is of course unavoidable in motorsport. The watch is quite similar to the RM50-04 from Ferrari, with the colors being slightly different of course.

How much does a Richard Mille watch cost?

Don't be alarmed, but Richard Mille watches are virtually unaffordable for most people. If you imagine yourself in the world of the very rich and have some budget left for a Richard Mille, think of at least € 180.000. However, the watch of the men from McLaren is a bit more expensive: transfer € 400.000 if you want to win this watch. Absurd amounts of course, but in the world of Richard Mille this is the most normal thing in the world: there are often enough watches of more than 1 million on offer.
