The history of Richard Mille
The company of Richard Mille isn’t even that old yet, compared to some other high-end luxury watch manufacturers. The company was founded back in 1999, when Frenchman Richard Mille and Swiss-native Dominique Guenat joined forces. Both of these guys already had extensive experience in the luxury watch market where Mille was the head of Matra’s watch department and Guenat was the CEO of their family business, Guenat SA Montres. Only three years later, Richard Mille presented their first ever watch at Baselworld. They introduced the Richard Mille RM001. The watches from Richard Mille are high-end, high-tech and priced for the well-fortuned people of this world.
Richard Mille is one of the few manufacturers to introduce haute horlogerie into the luxury watch market. With materials like grade 5 titanium, graphene, aluminium-lithium alloys and carbon their watches are almost indestructible. That’s one of the reasons why Richard Mille partnered up with both Ferrari and McLaren in Formula 1. Richard Mille also partnered up with Rafael Nadal with a special edition, called the Richard Mille RM 27-03 Rafael Nadal. Costing well over €750.000 if you’re lucky enough to find one.
Prices of the Richard Mille watches
Since the focus of Richard Mille is haute horlogerie, their prices are extremely high compared to other brands. With the cheapest Richard Mille available, the RM 033, this watch will cost you a bit over €80.000. It’s made of 18-karat rose gold.
If you’re in the market to spend some big checks, you can opt for the RM 16-01 Bonbon or the RM 67-02 Automatic costing both well over €250.000. One of the most expensive watches in the Richard Mille collection is the RM 052 Skull, costing you 1.15 million.
