The GMT Rolex reference 16710
Being released back in 1989 and in production until 2007, the GMT-Master reference 16710 is one of the most popular GMT’s when it comes to Rolex watches. The stainless-steel case in 40mm, the aluminum bezel (later on, they’ve replaced it with Cerachrome) and the Oyster-bracelet in stainless-steel make it the perfect watch to wear when outdoor. It features a 24-hour rotatable bezel and a GTM hand that can be set to a different time zone. You can also find the Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock, to view today’s date.
Although the 16710 seems very simalar to the Rolex 16700 at first sight, there are some differences.
The 16710 features the 3185 movement, has a flinch of a thicker case and has quick-set for the hand indicating hours.
When you’re in the market for a 16710 GMT-Master from Rolex, you can get your hands on the ‘Pepsi’, ‘Coke’, or the regular black bezel GMT-Master II. The Pepsi is still in production today, while the Coke was discontinued. Expect to pay at least €13.000 for a pre-owned or neo-vintage GMT-Master bearing reference 16710.
