The Rolex 16700
The Rolex reference 16700 is a sporty GMT-Master introduced in 1988. It was produced until approximately 1999. It features a 40mm Oyster case, black dial with white gold hour markers and hands and a date window at the 3 o'clock position. In terms of the bezel there are different color configurations available. There are:
- The full black variant;
- The blue and red variant, which is also called the Rolex Pepsi;
- The black and red variant, which is also know as the Rolex Coke.
On the blue and red variant, the red color can be a little bit faded throughout the years, which some enthusiasts love about this watch.
The 16700 is powered by the Rolex caliber 3135 automatic movement and has a water resistance of up to 100 meters (330 feet). It was available with either a stainless-steel Oyster bracelet or a leather strap. The reference 16700 was replaced by the Rolex reference 16710 in the late 1990s. When you’re in the market for a vintage Rolex reference 16700, expect to pay around €14.000 for a pre-owned piece on Wristler.
