First in-house movement: Cartier Calibre de Cartier
While Cartier is used to making watches for a long time now, the in-house movement from Cartier made its debut in the Calibre de Cartier. There are a lot of complications available on the Calibre de Cartier, such as a tourbillon, perpetual calendar, stopwatch function and diving watches with water-resistance up to 30 bar.
All about the Cartier Calibre de Cartiers
In 2010 Cartier launched the collection of Calibre de Cartier with their first in-house movement. Before 2010, Cartier used movements from Jaeger LeCoultre or third parties to develop a movement. When you look at the Calibre de Cartier collection, you can find a simple three-hand watch, a chronograph, diving watches but also watches with a perpetual calendar or a tourbillon. You can opt for the 38mm unisex watch or the bigger 42mm watch, made of stainless-steel, yellow gold, pink gold or white gold.
When it comes to pricing of the Calibre de Cartier, it’s just as diverse as its collection. Starting with the stainless-steel Calibre de Cartier with a date display, this watch will set you back around €6.000. The Chronograph Calibre de Cartier is a bit more expensive at €7.000 on Wristler. For the same amount of money you can get your hands on the Calibre de Cartier Diver Blue which is water-resistant up to 30 bar. From here it goes all the way up with the Calibre de Cartier in solid gold for around €20.000, the Calibre de Cartier Chronograph in gold for €25.000 and the Astrotourbillon from titanium is priced at €115.000 or more when you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one.
