Baume & Mercier
When the Baume brothers began their business back in 1830, they immediately opened up a watch dealership in Switzerland. Their business grew rapidly since their motto was ‘accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality’. With this being said, the Baume brothers developed high-end watches for the luxury watch market.
History of Baume & Mercier
A couple of years later, the Baume brothers opened another business in London under the name ‘The Baume Brothers’. This company soon expanded throughout the whole British Empire. At this time in the late 19th century, Baume & Mercier was already known for their chronographs and grand complications models. The company even won awards like the Grand Prix at the international exhibition across the entire world. The timepieces developed by the Baume brothers showed a rare accuracy.
In the 1920s, the company director William Baume joined forces with Paul Mercier. And the name of the company changed to Baume & Mercier. They were situated in Geneva, Switzerland and became one of the most active producers of wristwatches with balanced special-shaped models.
