The Engagement & Wedding watch: You need it

So, as a ‘new’ concept, we’ve seen an increase in guys calling us for their engagement watch, or their wedding watch. Which truly sounds like a great plan. Right? If you’re not into rings, don’t want to wear one, or you can’t due to work, a watch might be the perfect solution. But, what do you need to consider when buying a watch for your wedding? Let us explain.

There’s no rule

When it comes to wedding rings or engagement rings, usually there are some rules, something to consider or to live by. When it comes to watches, there are no rules. Especially when you’re about to spend some money on a watch suited for your wedding. Yes, we know, you can’t really wear a watch on your own wedding looking at wedding rules and expectations, but if you like it, go for it. If you really want to follow the rules, buy a pocket watch. Maybe the AP x Swatch pocket watch (no, don’t buy it, we’re joking).

Buy that wedding-watch

Alright, you’ve considered wearing a ring, and your future partner wants to wear a ring. But you really don’t as you don’t have anything to do with wedding rings. Or rings in general. So you rather spend your money on a nice watch. What would you consider? First of all, start with your budget. And check whether you can get your hands on a second caseback for engraving (pro tip). That being said, you can engrave the caseback of your watch, but keep the second one in mint condition, so you can always swap when you need to. When selling the watch, or give it to someone else (might be the next generation for example). That way you will keep the originality intact.

As you’re browsing through the world wide web for your perfectly balanced wedding watch, you might need some help. So, here we are. Doing things we love: finding watches. Hunting down the perfect deal. Being able to provide a safe and super cool location where you can pick it up yourselves. We’ve put together a list of really different watches, starting at around €1.000, up to €15.000. Because you don’t want to overspend on your wedding watch. Right? Let’s get to it!

Best options for under €2500

This is the best part of our job. Hunting down the perfect watch for anyone. We love doing this on a daily basis. And we’ve been doing it for the last 5 years already (well, almost 5 years). So, the first option could be a surprise, within the €2.500 budget: a Baume & Mercier. The classic 1990’s vibe, with the octagon case, two-tone bracelet and the beige/white dial. And you can buy it for €1094 (which is a random number, but it says so in the advert. Perfect choice in 34mm.

The other option could be a vintage Omega Seamaster on BoR bracelet. Which looks stunning. Again, measuring 34mm, silver dial, clean looking daily watch, but still loads of character to it. Priced at €2378 (random again), this could be yours:

Need a dressy option within the €2500 range? Buy a NOMOS. I’ve had one, and it is amazing. The case, the lugs, the finish, it’s simply perfect. Yes, it’s a bit under the radar, but it’s German. So it will last a lifetime, and it wears super comfortable. I would personally change the original strap to something more exotic, but that’s personal preference.

Stepping up the game: under €6.500

We’re stepping up. Moving up in the world. All jokes aside: you’ve set yourself a budget, and we’re here to remind you that you need to be strict. You’ve loosened up a bit, so you’re willing to spend up to €6.500. And we’ve picked this amount with a reason: the average amount spend on Wristler is around this mark, so most of you are looking for something within this range.

Out of the box, and thus extra-cool. This IWC fits perfect on a slightly bigger wrist measuring 40mm, and this bracelet is comfortable. For real. The Da Vinci is out of the box, and priced at just over €5.000, and it could be your wedding watch.

You can get multiple Rolex watches within the budget. And most people go for the Datejust, and that’s exactly the reason we’re pointing out something else: the Cellini. Just because this could be yours for €5.000. And a bit. Yellow gold, clean dial, 32mm, so a perfect dresser. Would you pick this?

Staying in the dressy-lane: a Cartier should be in this list. So, we’ve picked the Santos Dumont black lacquer, worn on a leather strap. A bit stealthy for a dressy piece, but still something to enjoy. You only need to negotiate free shipping and you’re a winner under €6.500.

Up to €15.000: loads of options

This list is getting more and more exciting to be honest. Especially when you’ve got this amount of money to spend, the search and the hunt is real. Difficult too, by the way. But, we’ve tried to use our heads and hearts to pick something out of the box.

The first one of three, is a Bulgari Octo in pink, to be exact. And it is stunning. Available well under retailed price thanks to the online only business, you’re able to pick this up for the full €15.000 budget. I bet your friends never have seen one before.

Another banger, for the full budget of 15k. But, it’s a Blancpain. You didn’t know you wanted it, until you’ve seen one. Time only? Absolutely not. A complicated watch, this is. A day/night hand, a power reserve indicator, a date, this is crazy. An cool, too.

The Vacheron Constantin Fifty-Six. Yes, the dressy-piece. You should really consider this one to be honest. So undervalued, but look at it. This has some serious wrist presence. Right?

So, you will have way too many choices within all of these price ranges. Just make sure to filter on the budget range when searching for watches and find that perfect fit.
