We are happy to present an exceptionally rare and stunning steel and yellow gold Datejust. This timepiece features a dial configuration we’ve never encountered before on a Datejust. First off, it has an applied Rolex logo under the coronet, elegant arrowhead-like hour markers, a “Swiss only” designation at the 6 o'clock position, and beautiful beige lume plots on both the markers and the dauphine-style hands. But there’s more: this beauty also displays “Superlative Chronometer nach amtlicher Prüfung” on the lower half of the dial—a German translation of the "officially certified chronometer" text typically found on these models! While we’ve come across a few Day-Dates with German-translated text (in fact, we’ve sold one and have one in stock!), the text on those pieces differs slightly: “Superlativer Chronometer Amtlich Geprüft.” We believe these watches were produced for the German-speaking regions of Switzerland and/or the German market. Given that we've seen only a few specimens of these "German dials," we also think they were intended as an "experiment" for these specific markets.
