Rolex Submariner with a Black dial
Rolex Submariner Black Dial
The Rolex Submariner is probably one of the most popular diver’s watches in the world, with the black dial and the black bezel on the Oyster-steel bracelet and case. The Rolex Submariner was introduced by Rolex being water-resistant to 100 meters. Nowadays you can find the Submariner Black Dial with water-resistance up to 300 meters.
More on the Submariner with a Black face
With the release of the Rolex Submariner in 1953, the watch immediately became popular. The first reference is the 6200 with the Twinlock-crown and water-resistance up to 10 bar. Over the years, the case has crown, the crown guard was added, and you can find a Submariner Black Dial with a date display or without. The design of the original Submariner wasn’t changed over the years.
When it comes to the black dial on the Rolex Submariner, the dial used to be black but over the years you can find some nice patina on these early, vintage dials. The luminous material on the hour markers and hands are a bit faded and the black on the dial looks a bit grey. The earlier models from the Rolex Submariner are priced around €20.000 or more, especially for the 4-digit reference numbers. The newer models can be found just under €10.000 for a pre-owned piece, while the never worn watches are priced around €13.000 on Wristler.
