Description
The model presented today is perhaps one of the most interesting and unique Rolex models ever – for us personally, this was one of the timepieces we pursued for quite some time, and for the first time, we have managed to acquire one at a favorable offer.
The so-called "new" Yacht-Master itself was introduced in 1992 with reference 16622, and in 2013, the series was replaced by the improved version 116622 – with a new bracelet, a new clasp, and changes to the dial. As is known, these models are named "Rolesium" by the brand's creators – this name denotes the combination of steel and platinum. The Yacht-Master is the first model in the Oyster Professional series in which Rolex used the so-called "Maxi Dial" – a design with larger markers and hands for better legibility and stronger luminescence.
Another significant difference compared to the other models in the Oyster Professional series is the shape and thickness of the case – on the Yacht-Master, it more closely resembles that of a Rolex Daytona than a Rolex Submariner, which gives it a more elegant and "dress" character.
The model presented today, however, is, let's just say, "a bit more special." Introduced for the first time in 2022, it quickly became one of the brand's most desirable gold models. For the first time in the Yacht-Master, the Everose alloy is used – an 18-carat pink gold with additions of platinum, which preserves its color over time. For the first time, we also see the Oysterflex strap – a rubber construction with internal metal inserts of titanium and nickel, combining comfort and durability. The third innovation is the relief Cerachrom bezel, which, in combination with the gold case, creates an impressive visual effect.
The specific model is even more interesting, as it is in the larger 42-millimeter case and is executed in a classic yellow gold version.
The other important difference is the movement – the new Yacht-Master uses caliber 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve, an improved automatic system with a ball-bearing rotor, and an increased efficiency of about 15%. The movement incorporates 14 patents and over 90% new components, and its precision exceeds COSC standards.
The waterproof Oyster case provides protection up to 100 m – perfectly sufficient for marine conditions and daily use.
The dial is clean and very legible, and the luminescence of the hands and indices is in a pleasant bluish tone, which ensures excellent visibility in low light.
Although the Yacht-Master was created as a professional instrument, today it is above all a luxury accessory. This is precisely why Rolex places a serious emphasis on the visual aspect – the sapphire crystal without anti-reflective coating preserves the model's characteristic look over the years, and the use of precious metals reinforces the sense of prestige.
The case back is solid and clean, as with most of the brand's models. The 18-carat yellow gold used and the high standard of finishing are further proof of the attention to detail for which Rolex is known.
The overall impression is complemented by the bidirectional rotating Cerachrom bezel – a satin-finished base with polished relief numerals that create a strong visual contrast.
The Oysterflex strap with the Glidelock system allows for fine micro-adjustment up to 15 mm, which makes it extremely comfortable for daily wear.
Certainly, this model was created in an era where Rolex is perceived not only as a tool but also as a symbol of style. This is a timepiece that will not only not let you down over time, but will also retain its value – and it will look equally good with a formal suit as with casual daily attire.
