F1 x Breitling x Aston Martin: The new Navitimer you don’t need

With the 2026 F1 season warming up, there’s always plenty of news coming out. New teams, new rules, new drivers and some fresh cars and liveries. A part of those new liveries for these cars are sponsorships. Even though LVMH and TAG are balls deep into pretty much anything, there’s still room for some other brands to sponsor drivers. You are used to seeing Max Verstappen wear TAG, team Ferrari and Richard Mille, and now Aston Martin Aramco with Breitling. We’ll break down the watch for you including some highlights.

New sponsorship Aston Martin Aramco

Same drivers, same style, but a different watch on the wrist. From 2026 onwards, you will see Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll wearing a Breitling before and after the races. Lance Stroll might even wear a Breitling while racing, since it’s hard for him to keep an eye on track. So, at least he’s got something to do!

The story behind the new Breitling Navitimer

Alright, jokes aside about the F1 drivers for Aston Martin, we get that Lance Stroll will always have a seat within F1 as long as the Stroll-family has some money. So, now over to the more important thing: the first ever co-branded Breitling and Aston Martin watch. Is it special? Might be. Is it limited? Not so much. But it is. Basically, it’s a Breitling Navitimer. And we know that watch as a true pilot-watch, but now it flew down to track times on track. And now, it’s co-branded with Aston Martin, limited to 1959 pieces (which is the same year Aston Martin joined F1 to pay a tribute).

This is what’s new

In fact, there are some highlights on this particular Navitimer, which is pretty cool. Such as the titanium case on the Navitimer, which is a first. They’ve changed the strap too, to Aston Martin Racing Green with lime accents. The most important thing that’s different is the dial: a carbon-fibre dial inspired by the cockpit of the F1 Aston Martin racecar. And here’s what’s interesting: you might know that Breitling uses AR coating on their watches, which comes in handy when the sun hits your watch, so you won’t be blinded. But, we’ve seen some real-time footage of the new Breitling x F1 x Aston Martin, and it’s terrible. With the carbon dial combined with the AR coating, it’s now simply impossible to read time (or even track your lap). It’s very hard to read, which should be the basis of revealing a new watch. But hey, that’s probably the reason why we don’t work at Breitling.

The thing we do actually like

So this might sound like a story about a bad watch, but it isn’t. Not completely. We don’t like the dial, the fact that you can’t even read time due to the AR coating and carbon-fibre dial, the strap looks awful on a pilot’s watch (sorry, it’s still a pilot’s watch) and the price is even crazier: €10.500 for a Navitimer? It’s sort of limited, so we get that it’s priced likewise, but we all know that you can easily buy Breitling watches with 30% discount. In my opinion, it’s overpriced. Alright, back to the thing we do actually like about this limited Navitimer in titanium: the caseback. It’s open, the rotor has the Aston Martin logo and that’s actually awesome.

Final verdict

As you might read, it’s not really my thing. They should’ve picked another watch (chronograph of course) instead of the Navitimer. The Navitimer is the perfect pilot’s watch, which has nothing to do with racing. Breitling should’ve picked a titanium Super Chronomat, that would actually make sense. I did like the latest collections from Breitling, but it seems like they’re going back to making hideous watches again. And I feel sorry, especially with the purchase of Universal Geneve, so I’m really hoping for the best with some classy releases in 2026. We’ll keep an eye on it!
