Perfect for the racetrack

the TAG Heuer Carrera

With the TAG Heuer Carrera being one of the most popular watches in the TAG Heuer collection, it’s the perfect watch to wear on the racetrack. The easy-to-read dials are inspired by dashboards from cars and feature in-house calibers and are prices to sell.

All you want to know about the TAG Heuer Carrera

Ever since the introduction of the TAG Heuer Carrera back in 1963 the watch has been an icon in the luxury watch market. It was designed by Jack Heuer, with exceptional readability of the dial. Heuer named the watch after the Carrera Panamericana Rally, which is a famous race through the streets of Mexico in the early 1950s.

There are numerous options when it comes to the TAG Heuer Carrera with an in-house caliber, but also a tourbillon. There are some other limited editions as well, such as the Carrrera 160 Years or the tribute to Jack Heuer turning 88 years old. This piece featured a rose gold case called the Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition.

When you’re more into the vintage watches, don’t hesitate to get your hands on a Carrera 30, Carrera 45 Dato or Chronomatic. At the time these watches were produced, the company was called Heuer and were featured with movements from Valjoux, Lemania and Landeron. These watches are highly coveted amongst collectors nowadays.

Functions & more

Different Carrera watches

Since the watch was introduced back in 1963, there are numerous versions of the watch released over the years. One of these watches is the Seiko-based Calibre 1887. The watch was based on the design plans for a Japanese Seiko caliber, but the movement was heavily changed that you could consider it an in-house movement. It features a 41, 43 or 45mm case-size where the largest model has a rotated movement, meaning the chronograph counters sit at 3 and 9 o’clock.

You can also opt for the TAG Heuer Carrera 01 and 02. These watches feature a GMT or Tourbillon where the O2T is the most impressive model. It consists of 12 individual components with a mix of different materials. A minute tourbillon powers the timepiece with SuperLuminova on the balance wheels. Prices for these watches range from €15.000 all the way up to €48.000. When you don’t want to spend that much money, you can opt for the Carrera Calibre Heuer 02 without the tourbillon. You can call it your own for around €5.000.

Prices on the TAG Heuer Carrera watches

Since the model is available when it was first introduced, there are multiple vintage pieces available, but also new or pre-owned. Starting at roughly €2.500 you can get your hands on the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Twin-Time with the Sellita caliber.

When you’re in the market for the Porsche Chronograph, make sure to bring at least €6.000 to the table. The most expensive TAG Heuer Carrera is the Jack Heuer Birthday Gold Limited Edition made of 18-karat rose gold for roughly €24.000.
