Audemars Piguet, known for the Royal Oak
Audemars Piguet has one of the most iconic sport watches in their collection: the Royal Oak. This watch was the first ever sports watch made from stainless-steel with an integrated bracelet. Audemars Piguet produced the Royal Oak in different sizes, meaning they have a collection of watches for women as well.
Women’s models
The Royal Oak was debuted back in 1972 and named ‘Jumbo’ because of its larger case size measuring 39mm. The design for this watch comes from the world-famous Gérald Genta, who designed some other pieces as well like the Patek Philippe Nautilus and the IWC Ingenieur. Jacqueline Dimier, another designer, teamed up with Audemars Piguet to make the perfect ladies watch: the Royal Oak Lady. Introduced in 1976, only four years later than the original Royal Oak, it stays true to its design but is has some different case sizes and materials being used.
The Royal Oak Lady rangers from 26 up to 41mm and was made of stainless-steel, rose, white or yellow gold. If you’re in the market for a retro look, you should consider the two-tone in stainless-steel and yellow gold. The Royal Oak has an integrated bracelet which means that the case and bracelet are one piece. You can also opt for the leather bracelet or rubber straps, but it makes the look and feel of the watch a bit different.
Frosted Gold Royal Oak
For the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet teamed up with another designer. This time it was Carolina Bucci, a jewelry designer. The partnership resulted in the beautiful Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold in 2017. The case of these watches are finished using a Florentine hammering technique, which causes the watch to shimmer as soon as the light touches it.
This particular 40th anniversary watch is available in white or rose gold, with a 33 or 37mm case. Later on, the 41mm was added as well. You can get your hands on a Quartz-powered watch or with the 3120 caliber which is automatic. Prices for these watches vary around €60.000 for a well-maintained piece.
Prices on the Lady Royal Oak
Prices for the most iconic sports watch ever made differ from around €7.000 up to €60.000 depending on the case size, and if there were some diamonds on the bezel or dial. Starting with the 26mm reference 6007BA this watch will cost you around €7.000 making it the cheapest Royal Oak around. If you want the bigger watch on your wrist, measuring 33mm, you can search for the reference 15000ST which will cost you around €10.000 on Wristler.
The 33mm case size including diamonds is a bit more expensive, at €20.000. The top model for the Lady Royal Oak is the reference 15454BC.GG.1259BC.01: you probably won’t remember this reference number but the price is around €60.000 and it is made of frosted gold and feature a 37mm case size.
