Undoubtedly, Speedmaster is the name that has largely made Omega what the brand has been over the past 50 years. It is precisely for this reason that this name appears in the imagination of every watch enthusiast when Omega is mentioned. Of course, the credit for this belongs to the series of so-called “Moon Speedmasters”, but there are also several other versions that deservedly occupy an honourable place in the lists of the model’s admirers. The theme of Space and especially the Moon is very valuable for Omega – because it is precisely thanks to it that the brand is where it is today and has remained among the leading favourite brands for more than 60 years.

We can boldly say that the watch is truly very cool, and unfortunately the photos cannot show all of its magnificence. Presented in 2014, it is a true thoroughbred Speedmaster for many reasons – we will focus on only a few of them.

First, of course, it is a chronograph – in order to be a true Speedmaster. The tachymeter scale, which in this case is executed with Omega’s so-called Liquidmetal, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the transparent caseback – all of this immediately places it in the family of the most recognisable chronographs in the world.

Second, of course, its irresistible and unmistakable style – with the shape of the hands and the layout of the dial. The dial itself has a textured coating of noble platinum, and it is precisely because of this fact that the model’s other name is “Lunar Dust”.

Third, the movement used – it is no coincidence that the Calibre 9300 is considered by specialists to be one of Omega’s best in-house movements of recent years. It deserves special attention. Under the name Calibre 9300 lies Omega’s high-quality in-house movement – an automatic chronograph operating at the unusual frequency for many other movements of 25,200 vibrations per hour, or 3.5 Hz, with two barrels, 54 jewels and 337 components, featuring Omega’s Co-Axial technology and a Si14 silicon balance spring. The movement is COSC-certified and offers a power reserve of more than 60 hours.

Co-Axial is Omega’s patented technology, which significantly reduces friction at the heart of the watch movement and offers improved reliability and precision, as well as a longer service life of the mechanism. The column-wheel chronograph guarantees a smooth start of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and ensures precise stopping and resetting.

And of course, the most interesting thing about this watch is the material used for the case – here we are talking about grey ceramic. Omega used this material for the first time precisely in this model, and the result is modern, technical and extremely recognisable at the same time.

The strap is very comfortable thanks to the clasp with easy-to-use pushers and is made of high-quality crocodile leather, again in grey – clean and very premium. The way it wraps around your wrist once again demonstrates the high quality of the watch’s craftsmanship.
