The model was first presented in 2019 and carries within it the brand’s desire to show not only its adherence to tradition, but also its ambition to modernise its production. Because it truly brings several new things for the brand – the use of the special Carbonium® Gold material with gold accents, the changed dial design, the modern appearance and the relatively large size – all of this confirms those words. Everything in this watch shows it – the shape of the case, the design and layout of the dial, the interesting design of the strap. The watch is rather elegant, but with a magnetic presence on the wrist – it will certainly not remain unnoticed and stands apart from the mainstream. The skeletonised dial of the watch puts on display, and under critical assessment, not only the brand’s precise movement, but also the full magnificence of the careful judgement and balanced distribution of its individual parts. Here we can observe a strange mixture of a relatively bold and bright skeletonised appearance, with gold accents to eliminate even the fleeting idea of discretion, and a design recognisable only to true watch enthusiasts. What will probably happen, however, is that it will be recognised as an expensive watch. We have presented countless expensive and very expensive watches over all these years, but we can confidently say that you would probably be shocked at how many watches with high five-figure prices remain completely unrecognised, or are taken for a “nice fashion watch” by the masses and even by beginner watch lovers. With so many golden accents and so many obviously neatly made, shiny and small parts on display, the Blast Skeleton X looks refined and luxurious enough to distinguish its wearer from the crowd. As in most of its contemporary models, here too Ulysse Nardin uses a transparent caseback, and this provides the opportunity to enjoy the movement that powers this work of horological art. In this case, under the name UN Calibre 371 lies a manufacture movement of the brand with manual winding, 96 hours of power reserve, 21 jewels, 173 components, a silicon escapement and an incredible finish. This particular watch is offered on a calf leather strap, which is much more suitable for such an example, as it gives it a more elegant appearance.
