When the first Rolex Datejust was introduced in 1945 — the year the brand celebrated its 40th anniversary — it made history as the first automatic waterproof wrist chronometer to display the date in a separate window on the dial.

In 1953, the "Cyclops" lens was added to the model, which significantly improved the readability of the date. Over time, it became one of the most recognizable design and functional features not only of the Datejust, but of Rolex as a whole.

In 2018, Rolex introduced the updated generation of the Datejust 36. The new series retains the characteristic proportions and classic look of the original model, but combines them with a number of modern technical improvements.

One of the most significant changes is the use of the automatic calibre 3235 — a movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. At its introduction, it was protected by 14 patents and offered serious improvements in terms of precision, efficiency, durability, and power reserve.

The calibre uses the patented Chronergy escapement, made of nickel-phosphorus and resistant to the effects of magnetic fields. In combination with the optimized barrel architecture, it provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve.

The movement also features a blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and automatic winding via a bidirectional Perpetual rotor. After being cased, the finished watch undergoes Rolex's in-house Superlative Chronometer certification, which guarantees a precision of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day — a significantly stricter tolerance than the requirements for standard COSC certification of an uncased movement.

Another distinctive element of the presented model is the Everose Rolesor combination. With this term, Rolex designates timepieces in which the durable Oystersteel is combined with the patented 18-carat Everose rose gold. The Everose alloy was introduced in 2005 and is designed to retain its characteristic warm pink hue over time.

It is no coincidence that the Datejust remains one of Rolex's most popular and recognizable models. It combines classic design, practicality, and enough variety in sizes, dials, materials, and bracelets to be suitable for both daily wear and more formal occasions.

The specific timepiece is presented in one of the most attractive and relatively hard-to-find configurations — a white mother-of-pearl dial with ten diamond hour markers, an Oystersteel and Everose gold case, a fluted bezel in 18-carat Everose gold, and a classic Jubilee bracelet.

Mother-of-pearl gives each dial an individual character. Its hues and reflections change according to the light and the angle at which the watch is viewed, and the ten diamonds are set in 18-carat gold settings. The result is an exceptionally elegant combination that looks different with every movement of the wrist.

Upon close inspection, the precision of craftsmanship characteristic of modern Rolex models also stands out. The combination of different surfaces — the polished details, the satin-finished steel, the warm color of the Everose gold, and the natural luster of the mother-of-pearl — creates an exceptionally finished and aristocratic appearance.

The dial is protected by a virtually scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with a "Cyclops" lens over the date window. The case is crafted from the highly resistant Oystersteel from the 904L alloy family, while the Twinlock crown and Oyster construction ensure water resistance up to 100 meters.

The characteristic fluted bezel deserves special attention. In the first Oyster watches, the fluting had a practical function, as it allowed the bezel to be screwed onto the case. Over time, this detail became a purely aesthetic element and one of Rolex's most recognizable design features.

On the presented Datejust, the bezel is crafted from solid 18-carat Everose gold. Compared to the more restrained version with a smooth bezel, it gives the watch a significantly more striking presence and emphasizes the play of light on the case and dial.

The finishing touch to the overall composition is the Jubilee bracelet — one of Rolex's most iconic designs, created especially for the introduction of the Datejust in 1945. It consists of five-piece links and combines outer elements in Oystersteel with polished central links in 18-carat Everose gold.

The bracelet is equipped with a folding Oysterclasp and the Easylink system, which allows its length to be quickly extended by approximately 5 mm without the use of tools. This is not the wide range of the Glidelock system, known from some of the brand's professional models, but it is an extremely practical solution for everyday comfort.

The offered piece has 10 links and is suitable for a wrist with a circumference up to approximately 18 cm. The width between the lugs is 20 mm.
