Een prachtig stuk horlogegeschiedenis van de oudste nog steeds actieve horlogefabrikant.
Blancpain werd opgericht in 1735 in Villeret en groeide geleidelijk uit tot een grotere fabrikant die horloges in grotere aantallen produceerde. In 1953 bracht het merk de Fifty Fathoms uit. De naam verwijst naar een oude lengtemaat, de vadem, en staat gelijk aan ongeveer 91 meter. In die periode was dat een indrukwekkende diepte.
In de jaren vijftig nam de vraag naar professionele duikinstrumenten fors toe en Blancpain speelde hierop in. Met succes, want het horloge werd door de Franse marine in gebruik genomen. Tevens is het een enorme trendsetter geweest met verschillende kenmerken die tegenwoordig onlosmakelijk zijn verbonden met duikhorloges. Het belangrijkste kenmerk hiervan is de door Blancpain geïntroduceerde duikersring.
Het hier aangeboden horloge is een zeer geslaagde hommage aan de rijke geschiedenis van het merk. Het is een perfecte combinatie van een succesvol klassiek ontwerp met moderne techniek. De diepblauwe wijzerplaat speelt prachtig met de omgeving en lijkt van zwart tot soms bijna paars. De kleine plots met krachtige lume zorgen voor een duidelijke leesbaarheid. De afwerking van de kast en sluiting is van een hoog niveau. Tevens is de 38 mm een zeer prettige maat, die gecomplementeerd wordt door de comfortabele canvas band.
Onder het saffieren deksel bevindt zich het zeer fraai afgewerkte uurwerk van het horloge, dat een genot is om naar te kijken.
Het horloge komt uit 2022 en bevindt zich in zeer nette staat. Daarnaast is het horloge voorzien van alle denkbare toebehoren.
