The design of the Planet Ocean, whose market "life" began after its launch in 2005, makes a reference to the first Seamaster 300 m models produced in 1957. Look at the hands, the bezel, and many other design elements – and you will agree with us that this line is the closest to the original in terms of design among all the Seamaster lines offered today. Perhaps for this very reason, the Seamaster Planet Ocean is also the first Omega series equipped with the brand's patented Caliber 2500 co-axial movement. The chronograph of the series, the so-called POC (Planet Ocean Chronograph), was launched in September 2006. And in 2016, after the launch of the newest PO line, came the turn of the watch we want to present today.

Regardless of all its technological achievements, this Planet Ocean is, from every point of view, a purebred Seamaster. We are reminded of this after seeing the traditional applied logo on the dial, the serrated bezel, the characteristic hands, and the contrasting colors of the dial.

The unique blue dial offers excellent contrast thanks to the applied luminescent hour markers and polished hands. It is itself ceramic, as with all PO models from the new series, and proudly bears the inscription "ZrO2" in its center. The date window is positioned at "6 o'clock", the faceted hands have Super-LumiNova inserts, and the hour markers are crafted in the same way. This gives the watch a sporty, yet elegant appearance.

One of the things that is almost impossible to show in its full beauty in photos (at least not with our capabilities and skills) are the different dimensions of the dial. The subdials are recessed, and the applied Omega logo and the metal rings around them make this watch look great and truly catch the light.

Separate attention should be paid to the movement of this wonderful watch. Under the name Calibre 9900 lies the next generation of what has been repeatedly recognized by specialists as one of Omega's best in-house movements of the last 15 years. The differences compared to the 9300 are few, but significant – first, it is now a Master Chronometer, having passed the METAS certification with much stricter criteria; second, it operates at 28,800 vibrations; third, it provides much longer service intervals.

The other parameters are familiar – an automatic chronograph, two barrels, 54 jewels and 337 components, with Omega's co-axial upgrade and an Si14 silicon balance wheel. The movement is METAS certified, with a power reserve of over 60 hours. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the movement and offers improved reliability, precision, and longevity. The column-wheel chronograph guarantees a smooth start of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and ensures precise stopping and resetting.

The inclusion of a transparent case back provides us with the opportunity to enjoy the operation of this movement and makes the entire product look even more impressive.
