Description
Despite all its technological achievements, this Planet Ocean, viewed from any angle, remains a purebred Seamaster. We are reminded of this as soon as we see the traditional "seahorse" on the case back, the scalloped bezel, the characteristic hands, and the contrasting colors of the dial.
The matte black dial offers excellent contrast thanks to the applied luminescent hour markers and the Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. The date window is positioned at 4:30, and the faceted, rhodium-plated hands have Super-LumiNova inserts. The final touch is the orange tip of the seconds hand – a detail that allows for pairing with straps with orange accents and gives the watch a fresh, summer character.
One of the things that can hardly be fully recreated in photographs are the different dimensions of the dial. The subdials are recessed, and the metal Omega logo and the metal rings around them add depth and an ability to "catch" the light in an impressive way.
The movement of this timepiece deserves separate attention. Under the name Calibre 3313 lies the high-quality Piguet 1285 movement with Omega's Co-Axial upgrade – with 37 jewels, COSC certification, and a power reserve of over 52 hours. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the movement and provides higher reliability, accuracy, and longevity. The column-wheel chronograph ensures a smooth start of the seconds hand and precise stopping and resetting. The rhodium-plated finish provides a luxurious touch, while the "Geneva waves" and gilded engravings elevate the movement to an even higher level.
The inclusion of a solid case back, in addition to allowing for the depiction of the iconic "seahorse," enables Omega to add an anti-magnetic disc, which provides additional protection for the movement from magnetic interference.
