In the elite world of Swiss watchmaking, there are brands that make an instant impact and leave connoisseurs speechless. Cvstos is one of them. Ever since its creation in 2005, the brand has relied on a high-tech approach to watch manufacturing, succeeding in boldly establishing an innovative style and meeting market demand. Although relatively young, the brand has strong mentors and partners – its founder, Sassoun Sirmakes, is the son of Vartan Sirmakes, one of the owners of the Franck Muller Watchland Group – a man from whom one can definitely learn.
Literally translated from Latin, Cvstos means "Guardian." Always one step ahead, the brand manages to achieve an excellent balance between the principles of traditional watchmaking, modern design, and the latest innovations.
The timepiece we have the pleasure of presenting today is the Cvstos Challenge Chronograph GT Red Massive Gold. It features a very recognizable and characteristic case shape for the brand – inspired by the style of Franck Muller, but interpreted in its own way. The case is crafted from solid 18-karat rose gold. The crown is oversized and protected by a black rubber ring, and on either side of it are symmetrically placed stainless steel pushers.
The case back is transparent and allows us to enjoy the precise and visually impressive movement with a titanium alloy rotor. An ETA 7750 of the highest grade is used as a base, supplemented with a complication for a power reserve indication. The case measures 53.7 by 41 mm (excluding the crown) and has a thickness of almost 18 mm – truly impressive dimensions that provide a unique presence on the wrist.
The unique design of the Cvstos Challenge Chronograph GT is complemented by three chronograph indicators, located at 6, 9, and 12 o'clock. They respectively show a 12-hour counter, a small seconds hand, and a 30-minute counter. An additional feature of the dial is the power reserve indicator (up to 2 days), positioned at 3 o'clock. Between 4 and 5 o'clock is a discreet, yet clearly visible date window.
