The very fact that the Cartier Santos model proudly bears the title of "the first men's wristwatch" is sufficient proof of the reputation of the brand's watchmaking division. Most series are created, inspired by exceptional stories, journeys, or encounters with notable personalities.

Undoubtedly, Cartier are best known for their rectangular watches – although no official survey has been conducted, we are convinced that if one were held with the question "What does a Cartier watch look like?", the most common answer would be "that square one with the screws". And despite the fact that for a large part of the public Cartier is associated mainly with the Cartier Tank and Santos, the brand's model range is by no means limited to them.
The Cartier Ballon Bleu presented today is part of a no less emblematic line. With the characteristic design of the crown – as if submerged in a "balloon" – the model carries the Cartier DNA no less convincingly than the other series.
The series was first introduced in 2007 and is one of the youngest in the brand's portfolio. Despite the modern and distinct design, it retains the classic Cartier elements – a dial with Roman numerals, an inner minute track, sword-shaped hands of blued steel, and the characteristic sapphire cabochon crowning the crown. The historical heritage, the prestige of the brand, and the unconventional design make this series a preferred choice for both celebrities and the modern drivers of fashion and style.
The watch presented today is from the current model line – a 42 mm version, executed in a combination of stainless steel and 18-karat yellow gold. The model features a gold bezel and a bimetal bracelet with a deployant clasp, which emphasizes its elegant and at the same time contemporary character.
The case back is solid, and beneath it lies the Cartier Calibre 049 – an automatic movement, based on the ETA 2892-A2, with 28 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. This is a proven movement, used in numerous brands and models, distinguished by its reliability, easy maintenance, and relatively low servicing costs. In the case of Cartier, however, we are talking about a base caliber of the highest quality, produced under the strict control of the brand and further finished by its specialists.
