We will not hide that for us, this brand is one of our most beloved, and we always approach every offering that reaches us with awe and hidden excitement. It is no coincidence that we relatively rarely have the pleasure of writing about one of its representatives – simply, until now, all the timepieces that have reached us have changed their owner very quickly, and we have not been able to give them due attention. Audemars Piguet has the Royal Oak, Patek Philippe has the Nautilus, and at Vacheron Constantin, the honor of fulfilling the role of the "sports player" in the collection falls precisely to the Overseas. And while a great deal has been written about the first two models, and all manner of known and unknown connoisseurs, admirers, and "journalists" have practiced describing their histories and merits, almost nothing is written about this "saint," and it remains in the shadows. Unlike the Royal Oak and Nautilus, Gérald Genta did not participate in the creation of this watch, but the name of its creator is no less significant – this is Jörg Hysek, author of a number of impressive models from the late 20th century. Let us examine this luxurious "overseas foreigner" in more detail and see what it is all about.

All models from the Overseas line have a fresh, hand-engraved dial with a clearly expressed rhomboid motif. Around the edge of the crystal is a bezel in the shape of brackets with a relief of a Maltese cross – an element of the brand's logo. All of this is inspired by the emblematic progenitor of the line – the Vacheron Constantin 222. The same Maltese cross motif is used in the design of the bracelet links – the result is not only a distinctive look, but also one of the most comfortable watch bracelets whatsoever. The model presented today is part of the second generation Overseas, which began its life in 2004 and was produced until 2016. The specific version has a beautiful silver dial with the characteristic rhomboid guilloché.

In 2016, Vacheron Constantin introduced a new, more modern Overseas series, which gave rise to numerous polemics and disputes. One thing, however, is indisputable – the model presented today will never be produced again, which makes it even more attractive.

At the heart of the watch beats the automatic in-house Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1126 SC movement, based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 920 – a movement also used in a number of Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet models. The rotor is finished with an arc of 21-karat gold – but this is not just an aesthetic element, but a technical solution, as gold was chosen for its specific weight (which is why it is of the relatively rare 21-karat purity). The movement is compact and extremely reliable, offering functions such as a second time zone, date, day/night indicator, and power reserve. The fact that it is among the most trouble-free and proven movements clearly shows why the brand trusts it.
