Description
The timepiece has very comfortable and modern case dimensions by today's standards – 42 mm in diameter excluding the crown and a case height of 14 mm. The case is made of brushed 316L steel, with lugs that curve very well towards the wrist (with a lug width of 20 mm). The case back is solid and bears the embossed logo of a submarine, and all of this information is surrounded by the inscription: “Fortis B-42 Marinemaster”. The case and the crown are screw-down – to achieve the stated water resistance. The large, well-ribbed crown (which makes it easy to use even with gloves) also proudly bears the brand's logo.
The bezel features a diving scale, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, water resistance of 200m, the day and date windows are located at the usual “3 o’clock” position, and the hour markers, indices, and hands are generously coated with SuperLuminova. Using only 3 colors – black, silver, and white, this watch commands respect seasoned with a touch of cheerful summer mood.
At the heart of the watch beats the time-proven ETA 2836-2 – a workhorse, unpretentious and easy to service and repair. The water resistance is an impressive 200 m – allowing not only for bathing and swimming, but also for scuba diving.
The strap is rubber, very comfortable, and the clasp is a deployant with an additional safety lock and micro-adjustment.
All of this is a mechanical listing of the features of this impressive timepiece. More important, however, is the impression it leaves on its owner – and that is of a very well-balanced instrument, with excellent technical characteristics and qualities, allowing not only for trouble-free daily use, but also for very serious calculations, should it find itself with a professional from the target group for which the watch was produced.
