Description
Rolex 2916 1938 Rolex Chronochraph in steel. A very beautiful and rare Art Deco chronograph from the 1930s. The original black galvanic dial (gilt) is still in very nice condition. In this configuration, it is a very rare watch that is actually impossible to find. The steel case with the covered lugs is reference 2916 is part of 6 (7, if you count the possibly unique reference 2921) watches with a similar case, all of which have the same modified Valjoux 23 movement, known as the calibre type 13. The references are as follows: 2916 (the beauty we have for you today), 2917, 2918, 2919, 2920 and 2937. All but the last three references are housed in a 33 mm stainless steel case that is about 11 mm high. The radium luminescent material was restored during a service. The Rolex dates from 1938 and is waiting to be discovered by a collector. The serial number and the crown engraving on the case back are still clearly visible and show the excellent overall condition. The original pushers and crown are still present, the latter is appropriately aged. It also comes with a very rare early original Rolex clasp.
