Here we have for sale a Rolex Pre-Daytona Ref. 6034 produced in 1953 and serviced in 2025.
Introduced in 1950, the Rolex reference 6034 is affectionately known among collectors as the Pre-Daytona.
This elegant chronograph features a 36mm Oyster case housing the legendary Valjoux calibre 72 movement, renowned for its precision and reliability.
The beautifully patinated cream-coloured dial displays a striking blue telemeter scale alongside a tachymeter, a combination once favoured by racing drivers to measure both distance and speed.
Unlike the modern Daytona, which moved these markings to the bezel and omitted the telemeter entirely, this early design offers a far more refined and understated aesthetic.
At the 3 and 6 o’clock positions, the subdials record running seconds, a 30-minute counter, and a 12-hour counter.
The elegant stretched, pointed hour markers perfectly complement the original hands, both of which have aged with matching, warm patina.
The “Anti-Magnetic” inscription above the 6 o’clock subdial is written in a straight line, giving this example a slightly more contemporary look compared to earlier curved-text variants.
Beyond its mechanical and visual appeal, the 6034 holds a place in motorsport history it was the very model worn by LeRoy Neumayer when he set the land speed record at 233 miles per hour.
