One-Watch collection: Is that even possible?

This is a terrible hobby. We just have to admit that. We’re continuously browsing for the next best thing, the one watch we haven’t had just yet. Or the grail-piece. Either way, we keep on making excuses that we really need another watch, right? Which is ridiculous. So, I’ve asked Sem and Leon to think about their ultimate one-watch collection. And had some thinking to do myself as well. What if we had to pick just one watch, that would do it all? The GADA: Go all, do all watch. What would it be?

Why pick one watch that does it all?

Well, for starters, we’ve got too many watches. And sometimes, especially in the beginning of the new year, it’s good to look back, look ahead and really value what’s important. And thus, the cleansing begins. Get rid of all the watches and just buy one or pick one that does it all. So, the hunt begins for that one-watch collection.

Sem’s pick: surprisingly comfy

Sem’s a weird one. Not just as a colleague, but also when it comes to watches. He’s our IT-guy for those that don’t know. So he’s always behind his computer, loves to do crazy things with AI and is always a couple of steps ahead of the rest when it comes to IT. Thankfully. So, he already has a GMT, a diver and a dressy-watch. But, when I asked him to pick only one watch that really has to do it all, he came back with this one. And to be honest, I didn't expect this to be honest. I’ve known him for 15 years now, but this really was a surprise for me. What he’d pick?

This. The Zenith Elite Classic. According to Sem, this is the perfectly balanced watch: it’s dressy, it’s sporty, and a classic. The playful blue dial, the strap, it’s an underdog, not too bulky. That’s the reason he picked this one. And for under €5.000, this would actually be a perfect daily, right? I’m not sure if this one would take other straps as good as other watches, but still, this would be his GADA.

Leon’s pick: craziness incoming

This is something I’d expect from Leon. I’ve known him for 5 years now, and we’ve been working together for 4 years now on Wristler. After we’ve founded the company, we always dreamt of hitting some targets, being able to buy some watches and cars, and settle for that grail once it was possible. And to be fair: it’s not possible yet. We invest all of our money back into our company, so let’s see what the future brings. In Leon’s current collection you can find a dresser, a diver and some other fun watches. But, after I’ve asked him to pick one watch that does it all, this is what came back…

A Patek Philippe. And not just some Patek, but a rose gold Aquanaut on rubber with the moonphase at 12 o’clock. And damn, this piece is sick. This wouldn’t just be a GADA-watch, but a grail-piece as well. With a price tag of around €150.000, this is a crazy piece. We’ve sold some Aquanauts in the past, but we haven’t sold this Luce variant on the Aquanaut.

Timo’s pick: a strap monster

So for my ultimate one-watch collection, I’d pick a strap-monster. In other words: a watch that could be worn on leather, on nato, steel or rubber. Since I’ve already gotten some watches, it was a hard choice. I absolutely love my Tudor Submariner, admire the patina on my Seamaster, but there’s one watch that does it all. I guess.

And that would be my current Omega Speedmaster Reduced. And not just a Speedy, but a limited edition Blue Panda, one of only 1.500 units ever produced. I’ve gotten my hands on it in November, and haven’t worn it that much just yet. But, if I really had to say goodbye to all watches, this one would probably be my last one standing. This watch could to it all: a dressy event on leather, sporty on nato and classic on steel. Priced at around €3.500, it would not hurt that much. But again, as I’ve mentioned before, picking just one watch is unreal. It’s hard. I love the fact that there’s so much to choose from. In different price ranges, different vibes. Damn, what a hobby. What would your Go all-Do all watch be?
