Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch ‘Snoopy’
In honor of the 1970s Apollo 13 mission, Omega released three special models of their Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch which is the NASA’s Silver Snoopy Award, calling the watch as a nickname: Omega Speedy Snoopy. These special editions from Omega are highly sought-after and pretty popular amongst collectors.
Silver Snoopy
The reason why the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Silver Snoopy is called that way, is because the NASA thanked Omega for their outstanding performance by awarding it with the Silver Snoopy, the highest honor from NASA.
It’s usually only rewarded to NASA employees for outstanding achievements or contributions. The price itself is a sterling Silver Snoopy lapel pin, showing Snoopy as an astronaut. And that’s the reason why Snoopy is on the dial of the Speedy Silver Snoopy.
Different Snoopy Reference Numbers
Since Omega released a couple of different models over the years when it comes to the Silver Snoopy Award Speedmaster, you can find three different reference numbers for these pieces. The first one is the Silver Snoopy Award bearing reference number 311.32.42.30.04.003 and comes with a white dial, Snoopy at 9 o’clock and a limited run of only 1970 pieces. This piece is the most expensive one, costing close to €50.000.
The black dial Silver Snoopy Speedy bears reference number 3578.51.00 and will set you back around €25.000 with a limited run of 5.441 pieces. The most common Speedmaster Snoopy is the white dial, blue bezel 50th Anniversary, bearing reference number 310.32.42.50.02.001 and will cost around €18.000 and up.
