Bulgari watches
One of the oldest brands around, started out in 1884 and stands for fine Italian watchmaking: Bulgari. With lots of different models, designs and complications like a tourbillon or GMT, you can get your hands on fine Italian luxury starting at roughly €1.000. The brand is known for their cool and diverse Italian design but mixed with Swiss watchmaking and precision.
The history of Bulgari
Back in 1884, the Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris founded Bulgari. He had some jewelry and antique shops before founding the watch brand, where he sold some Art-Deco style watches and jewelry up through the 1930s.
Back in the 50s and 60s, a lot of famous people discovered the brand with their unique designs and models, making it possible to break through internationally. Later on, Bulgari acquired the Gérald Genta brand and now belongs to the well-known LVMH conglomerate since 2011.
Iconic models
One of the most outstanding watches in the collection from the Italian/Swiss manufacturer is the Serpenti. You can compare it to luxury watches and jewelry combined, with the design looking like a snake. The case represents the serpent’s head, while the band wraps around your wrist, just like a snake. You can find a Bulgari Serpenti starting at roughly €4.000, up to €30.000 or more for the studded bezels or even diamond-filled dials.
The Octo is one of the coolest looking flat wristwatches ever produced, with an automatic Octo Finissimo only measuring 6mm thick, which is unique. Thanks to the BVL138 movement, it’s possible to create a watch this thin.
It even features a small seconds dial and a 60-hour power reserve in the 40mm case. You can get your hands on a steel version, titanium, ceramic or even rose gold. Starting at €7.500 for the steel model up to €41.000 for the rose gold piece, there’s plenty to get your hands on.
The most expensive watch in the Bulgari collection is the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon, which is made of platinum, is extra flat (6mm) with an automatic movement and tourbillon. This Bulgari Octo sells for roughly €175.000 or more, if you’re lucky enough to find one.
