Description
It’s a pleasure to offer you a true historical piece. This Omega 2777-1 is the result of an amazing collaboration between Omega and the British Ministry of Defense (MoD). Besides this beautiful piece you can also add the Omega ‘Dirty Dozen’ W.W.W. to this list. After World War II, however, the cooperation between the Swiss watch brand and the British government didn't stop.
This particular example is the bigger brother of the Dirty Dozens - measuring 36mm in diameter which was big for a military watch. There are many specifications that these watches had to meet like a chronometer-certified movement against magnetism. All RAF Omega’s were fitted with a thin arrow. However, when the regulations regarding lume changed Omega recalled and replaced the dials with ‘Broad Arrow’ hands and an encircled ’T’ which indicates the usage of Tritium. This particular example still features the original ‘Thin Arrow’ hand together with the radium lume which is are both in pristine condition. The history of the watch is one thing, but the condition of this piece is simply amazing. The case shows sharp edges and deep markings in the casebook, which state the type of watch, the issue number and year.
There are just some watches that we won’t forget soon when we sell them. This is one of them.
