Description
The Rolex reference 5100 is a lesser-known model from Rolex, perhaps because it is a rather atypical watch for the company. Produced only from 1970-72, it is the first Rolex watch to feature sapphire crystal, a quick-set date, and the legendary Beta 21 quartz movement, a revolution in Swiss watchmaking.
As if the mechanics weren't reason enough to enthuse, the watch is also crafted in solid 18-karat yellow gold and has an unusually large 40mm case for the time. Due to the short production time, only about 900 pieces in yellow gold exist worldwide, which makes this vintage watch a true collector's dream. A rare piece of watch history.
