The Big Crown Subs are some of the most desirable Rolex dive watches, made famous by James Bond and adored by tool watch lovers all around the world. We are delighted to be offering this cool reference 6538 with its signature 8mm BREVET winding crown and red triangle bezel insert.This 6538 houses a slightly later gilt dial with short-glow zinc sulphide lume and marked SWISS T 25. The original hands are present with later non-glowing tritium lume. The case remains in fantastic condition with good even lugs. The bezel insert has the red triangle at 12, which is worth a small fortune on its own! The serial number between the lugs is worn , hard readable , very common in those years caused by the steel endlinks ! The caseback is marked “2 59” inside and on the outside has a thin engraving from a previous owner: “Rog Newell Nov '59”. We have fitted the watch with a rubber Tropic-style strap and put a steel Rolex pin buckle on it. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.We really love this vintage Sub, it has a real mojo on the wrist. Yes, the dial is a little later and the hands have been refilled, but this Big Crown really rocks on the wrist and you will absolutely love it!. .
