The Rolex Explorer I 124270 is a classic in its purest form. Its simple design, black dial, and 36 mm case make it one of Rolex’s most versatile models.
In 2021, the Explorer returned to its historic 36 mm diameter, following more than a decade during which a 39 mm version was offered. Consequently, the ref. 124270 strongly echoes the collection's classic proportions.
The black lacquered dial features the signature 3, 6, and 9 numerals. Additionally, the hour markers and hands utilize Chromalight, ensuring excellent legibility even in the dark.
The case is crafted from Oystersteel. With a 36 mm diameter, the watch sits perfectly on smaller to medium-sized wrists while remaining exceptionally comfortable for daily wear.
Inside beats the in-house Rolex Calibre 3230. The movement offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and features a Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and Superlative Chronometer certification.
The Oyster bracelet is equipped with a secure Oysterlock clasp. It also features the Easylink system, allowing the length to be extended by approximately 5 mm for an easy, precise fit.
To me, the Rolex Explorer I 36 mm is the quintessential everyday watch. It is simple, functional, and understated, yet it complements both casual and more formal attire.
This specific timepiece dates from 2021.
It comes complete with all original boxes and documentation.
