Rolex Submariner No Date 14060 "SWISS Only" is a particularly interesting piece for collectors of neo-vintage Rolex watches. Its classic 40 mm case, clean no-date dial and black aluminium bezel create one of the purest and most timeless Submariner configurations.

The most important feature of this particular example is the so-called "SWISS Only" dial. At 6 o'clock, the dial is marked simply "SWISS", without the earlier "T<25" designation and without the later "SWISS MADE" signature.

This dial variation appeared during a very short transitional period at the end of the 1990s. Rolex was moving away from tritium and introducing Luminova at the time. Consequently, "SWISS Only" dials have become particularly interesting to collectors of transitional Rolex references.

These dials were used only briefly, approximately between 1998 and 2000. Moreover, they are commonly associated with late U-series and A-series watches. However, Rolex production changes did not follow exact serial-number boundaries, so some overlap naturally occurred.

As a result, this example combines several desirable neo-vintage characteristics. On the one hand, it retains the classic two-line 14060 dial layout. On the other, it features the short-lived "SWISS Only" signature associated with the late 1990s transition.

Reference 14060 succeeded the legendary Submariner 5513. At the same time, it introduced several important technical updates, including a sapphire crystal, Triplock screw-down crown and increased water resistance to 300 metres.

The stainless steel case measures a classic 40 mm in diameter. Furthermore, it retains the slimmer lugs associated with five-digit Rolex sports watches as well as drilled lug holes, which have become a particularly appreciated neo-vintage detail.

The black no-date dial is exceptionally clean and symmetrical. In addition, the simple two-line text layout above 6 o'clock gives the watch a far more restrained appearance than later Submariner generations.

Inside beats the automatic Rolex Calibre 3000. The movement features 27 jewels, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 48 hours of power reserve.

Calibre 3000 is also one of the key elements separating reference 14060 from the later 14060M. Rolex began transitioning to Calibre 3130 around 1999, making late-production 14060 examples especially interesting from a collector's perspective.

This particular watch is in very good condition. The case retains attractive proportions and clearly defined edges. The brushed upper surfaces of the lugs remain visibly separated from the polished case sides, which gives the watch an excellent appearance.

The sapphire crystal is clean and the bezel remains in very good condition. Furthermore, the watch shows only minor signs of wear, mainly light surface hairlines.

The Oyster bracelet displays light stretch, which is typical for a worn Rolex bracelet of this period. Nevertheless, the overall presentation remains very good and perfectly suits the neo-vintage character of the watch.

Another major advantage is the exceptionally complete set. The warranty document is dated September 10, 1999. In addition, the set includes both boxes, booklets, the Rolex anchor, spare links and a Rolex calendar for 1999/2000.

Completeness is particularly important with watches from such a short transitional production period. Therefore, the combination of a "SWISS Only" dial, 1999 documentation and an extensive period-correct set makes this a particularly appealing example.

Rolex Submariner No Date 14060 "SWISS Only" is an excellent choice for collectors looking for something more distinctive than a contemporary Submariner. It remains extremely versatile while offering genuine neo-vintage character.
