Van Dorst Watches is proud to offer this rare and distinctive Breitling Chrono-Matic 24H Limited Edition 44mm ref. A2236013/B817, a highly collectible automatic chronograph that combines Breitling’s aviation heritage with an unusual and technically fascinating 24-hour time display.
This particular example dates from 2009 and is offered as a full set, including its original Breitling box, warranty papers, manuals, and accompanying accessories. The watch is individually numbered 839 of only 1,000 pieces produced worldwide, making it an especially desirable example for collectors.
The Chrono-Matic collection was created as a modern tribute to Breitling’s historic automatic chronographs from the late 1960s. One of the model’s most recognisable characteristics is the crown positioned on the left side of the case, a distinctive design element inspired by the original Chrono-Matic watches.
This special Limited Edition features a unique 24-hour display, meaning the hour hand completes one full rotation of the dial every 24 hours instead of the conventional 12 hours. This unusual configuration is closely connected to Breitling’s long-standing history of producing professional instruments for pilots, explorers, and aviation professionals.
The black dial features bold Arabic numerals, luminous hands and hour markers, two chronograph subdials, and a date display. Its distinctive layout provides excellent legibility while giving the watch a technical and unmistakably Breitling appearance.
Surrounding the dial is a bidirectional rotating slide-rule bezel, allowing various calculations to be performed. Together with the chronograph and 24-hour indication, this reinforces the professional instrument-watch character for which Breitling is renowned.
The substantial 44mm stainless steel case gives the watch an impressive wrist presence while maintaining balanced proportions. The left-positioned crown, contrasting subdials, and vintage-inspired details clearly distinguish this model from conventional modern Breitling chronographs.
Powering the watch is the automatic, COSC-certified Breitling Calibre 22LC. This reliable chronometer movement features a flyback chronograph, allowing the chronograph to be reset and restarted immediately with a single operation. It offers an approximate power reserve of 42 hours.
The watch is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and is fitted with its original stainless steel bracelet, completing its robust and sporty appearance.
