As the name suggests, this watch is part of the “Presage” collection. In Seiko’s own words, “Presage combines a Japanese aesthetic sense with traditional craftsmanship and Seiko’s watchmaking skills in an original collection that offers Japanese beauty, quality and time-proven performance”. In 2020, the “Presage Sharp Edged” series appeared on the market, combining finesse in dial craftsmanship, beautiful design and watchmaking expertise. Well, today’s model is exactly from this series. The steel case combines brushed and polished elements, which is proof that Seiko have paid attention to the details in the finishing. Undoubtedly, however, its most distinctive feature is the dial – it is snow white and has a beautiful and unusual texture. Someone “uninitiated” might wonder what is so special about this watch. We will try to bring a little clarity to this question – this really is a well-constructed watch, with a unique dial, wonderful hands and a robust movement at a very good price compared with the European brands we are used to seeing. In the design of this watch, the manufacturer has not tried to make it very different by adding decorations, additions to the case, more crowns or disproportionate bezels – and it is precisely with this simplicity that the watch looks very thoroughbred. And this is also where the biggest criticism of these watches from “Seiko followers” comes from – according to them, this watch is “too European”. For them this is a minus, but personally, for us, it is a major advantage. The open caseback of the watch allows us to enjoy the brand’s in-house calibre – Seiko caliber 8R48, operating at the usual frequency of 28,800 vibrations, with 34 jewels and a power reserve of approximately 45 hours.
