The Breitling Superocean 44 was first introduced in 2022. We are sure that for most fans of the brand, this is not the design we expect from a typical Breitling — mainly because of the bezel and the oversized inner scale. However, this is a purebred diver from the brand and as such, it is yet to win over its followers.
At 44 mm, this watch is massive, without being excessive and negatively affecting the comfort when worn.
The dial of this particular example is green, with applied indices, and the elegant golden logo of the brand makes this model a representative of one of the most classic executions for a Breitling. The overall impression is completed by the seconds hand with a golden tip and the "Superocean" inscription written in italics.
The hands and indices, besides being very well-proportioned, also have a generous coating of Super-LumiNova®, which facilitates reading the indications both during the day and at night — under and above water.
The sapphire has a double-sided anti-reflective coating and at a certain angle, it creates the impression that the dial can be touched, with nothing to prevent you from doing so. The crown and the case back are screw-down, which is necessary to ensure the water resistance provided by the manufacturer.
The rubber strap is one of the brand's new models — with a straight middle section and side elements with a woven texture, 22 mm wide at the lugs and 18 mm at the clasp. It is massive, yet at the same time very comfortable to wear, and the clasp itself is also one of the brand's new designs.
Overall, the Breitling Superocean 44 is an excellently designed and well-balanced timepiece, carrying within it not only the traditions of the brand's "underwater" watches, but also the new trends in the development of its design.
