Description
In 1860 werd Panerai in Firenze opgericht als horlogemakerij, werkplaats en later ook als opleidingsinstituut. Het merk werd lange tijd vooral bekend als leverancier van precisie-instrumenten voor de Italiaanse marine (Regia Marina).
Eén van de meest iconische modellen van het merk is de Radiomir. Dit horloge was het resultaat van een paar eisen van de Regia Marina zoals robuustheid en duidelijke zichtbaarheid in het donker. Zoals de naam al doet suggereren werd er in dit horloge radium gebruikt voor deze zichtbaarheid. Toen de veiligheidsrisico's hiervan bekender werken in de jaren 50 kwam Panerai met een gepaste opvolger: de Luminor.
Naast dat de Luminor een minder gevaarlijk horloge was voor zijn dragers kreeg het ook een kast welke waterbestiger was en kreeg het de bekende kroonbeschermvleugel. Tot op heden nog steeds een iconische ontwerpeigenschap van het merk.
Het hier aangeboden horloge komt uit 2005 en is een duidelijk eerbetoon aan de rijke geschiedenis van het merk. Het horloge wordt geleverd als full set.
