Combining the rugged functionality of a professional aviation instrument with the sophistication of a split-seconds chronograph, this neo-vintage masterpiece has earned a lasting reputation among collectors and enthusiasts.
Crafted from stainless steel, the 42 mm case offers a robust yet refined presence on the wrist. The highly legible pilot's dial, featuring bold Arabic numerals, luminous hands, and day and date displays, reflects IWC's longstanding tradition of designing functional instrument watches for professional use. Its clean layout ensures outstanding readability in all conditions.
At the heart of the watch is the renowned IWC Calibre 79230, an automatic movement based on the proven Valjoux 7750 architecture and enhanced with Richard Habring's ingenious split-seconds (rattrapante) mechanism. This highly regarded complication allows two elapsed times to be measured simultaneously, making the Double Chronograph one of the most technically impressive pilot's watches of its era.
